At Sanford Vet Center, King Thanks Maine Veterans During Holiday Luncheon

SPRINGVALE, ME – Today, U.S. Senator Angus King (I-Maine) attended the annual Sanford Vet Center Holiday Luncheon in Springvale where he expressed his gratitude to veterans and their families for their service and sacrifice for the nation. The luncheon was jointly sponsored by the Sanford Vet Center and American Legion T.W. Cole Post 19, and serves hundreds of veterans and their families.

“Our veterans have served and sacrificed to preserve the gift of freedom that we as Americans are fortunate to enjoy every day,” Senator King said. “As we come together during the holidays to give thanks for all our blessings, let us also once again give thanks for these brave men and women, for their courage, and for their selflessness – for it is these remarkable Americans, and those continuing to serve us today, to whom we are indebted. Many of them are serving right now, here at home or halfway around the world, and cannot be with their families during the holiday season. So let us remind them just how much they are appreciated and valued – today and every day of the year.”

Today’s luncheon also featured an ugly sweater competition, which Senator King was happy to join.
