WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Angus King (I-ME) recently announced that the National Park Foundation has awarded a grant in the amount of $25,000 to Acadia National Park. The grant is part of the National Park Foundation’s America’s Best Idea program and, in partnership with the Schoodic Education and Research Center Institute and Friends of Acadia, will be used to support Acadia’s Schoodic Education Adventure (SEA) program.
The grant is part of the National Park Foundation’s America’s Best Ideaprogram. SEA brings 600 middle school children and teachers to the Schoodic Education and Research Center, a National Park Service research learning center campus, for 3-day and 4-day residential learning in a unique coastal setting.
“Acadia National Park will soon celebrate its 100th anniversary and it remains one of our country’s most beautiful national parks,” said Senators Collins and King in a joint statement. “We are proud supporters of the Schoodic Education and Research Center which offers innovative educational programs combining natural science research with field-based education, and also helps teach young people how best to care for this natural treasure for generations to come.”
