Collins, King Announce Economic Development Grants for Maine

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King today announced several grants totaling $280,000 from the Economic Development Administration (EDA) that will support the development and implementation of comprehensive economic development strategies (CEDS). The CEDS will bring together public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen regional economies.

“These grants are welcome news for Maine. By leveraging private investments, they will help to create strategic plans that will improve and support economic development in communities across the state and lead to the creation of jobs,” Senators Collins and King said in a joint statement.

The awards and recipients are as follows:

  • $70,000 to the Northern Maine Development Corporation to support economic development in Aroostook and Washington counties
  • $70,000 to the Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments to support economic development in Androscoggin, Franklin, and northern Oxford counties.
  • $70,000 to the Kennebec Valley Council of Governments to support economic development in Kennebec, Somerset, and western Waldo counties.
  • $70,000 to the Eastern Maine Development Corporation to support economic development in Hancock, Penobscot, Piscataquis, and eastern Waldo counties.
