Impressions from the Middle East

This February I joined my colleague Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA) on a trip to Israel, the West Bank, and Lebanon. During our time overseas, we had productive meetings with our highly impressive embassy staff, foreign dignitaries, military leaders, and individuals working to provide the region with humanitarian assistance. You can read more about our trip here.

Policy Update

  • At the beginning of February, the Senate passed the 2013 Farm Bill, important legislation that will define our nation's agriculture policy for the next five years.
  • I teamed up with my colleague Sen. Deb Fischer (R-NB) to introduce the PROTECT Act, a bill that would protect jobs and prevent overregulation in the health IT industry.
  • Enacting common-sense regulatory reform to promote innovation and economic growth is one my priorities as a U.S. Senator. To help inform my work, I'm asking people to share their experiences with overly burdensome, outdated, or duplicative federal regulations.
