WASHINGTON, D.C. – The office of U.S. Senator Angus King (I-Maine), a member of the Senate Armed Services and Intelligence Committees, released the following statement today in response to an announcement by the State Department that the United States and its P5+1 partners will extend its nuclear negotiations with Iran until July 7th:
“Senator King has long said that a negotiated agreement to ensure that Iran cannot develop a nuclear weapon capability is preferable to the alternatives,” Scott Ogden, spokesman for Senator King said. “He supports a short-term extension if that’s what it takes for the United States and its negotiating partners to reach a verifiable agreement with Iran that will leave the world a safer place.”
